Potassium hydroxide is an inorganic compound with the formula KOH. Its common name is caustic potash. Along with sodium hydroxide (NaOH), this colourless solid is a prototypical strong base. It has many industrial and niche applications. Most applications exploit its reactivity toward acids and its corrosive nature.

 

SPECIFICATION OF POTASSIUM HYDROXIDE/CAUSTIC POTASH

DESCRIPTION :

White, free flowing flakes, extremely hygroscopic, very soluble in water as well as in alcohol.

USES :

Caustic Potash is a starting material in the manufacture of Potash Salts;  It finds its applications in Soaps, Fertilizers,Permanganate, Pharmaceuticals & Dyes Industries.

SAFE HANDLING :

Caustic Potash is a highly corrosive & alkaline material. Contact with skin & eyes should be avoided. Protective equipments like gloves, face shields / goggles and gumboots should be used while handling.  In case of contact with eyes / skin, wash with plenty of water.

STORAGE :

  Store Flakes in dry area properly stacked over the pellets.

PRESERVATION :

  Avoid exposure to atmosphere.
